Gonzo is a marine scientist and conservationist. He has been working in marine megafauna research and conservation for 12 years.
Originally from Argentina, Gonzo moved to the UK when he turned 18, and onwards to the Philippines when he was 26 where he worked full-time in marine conservation until the onset of the SARS-CoV-19 pandemic. He then moved back to the UK where he completed his PhD on whale sharks.
In 2020 he founded Marine Research and Conservation Foundation through which he could channel his work and dedication for the marine environment. He works with a variety of different species, like turtles and rays, and with an extensive array of methods including telemetry, genetics and photo-ID. He is a member of the IUCN SSC Shark Specialist Group and supports many projects and colleagues around the world.
