What is SharkAdemy?
SharkAdemy is a shark specialist field training residency, established in 2021 in collaboration with our friends at Celtic Deep CIC.
We recognise that gaining experience in shark science is challenging, with many volunteering opportunities abroad costing you an arm and a leg. SharkAdemy is the first training programme of its kind in the UK, providing fully-funded opportunity to learn about about UK species, non-capture research methods (tagging, BRUVs, stereo-video, DNA, eDNA, photo-ID and social science) practical experience in the water with sharks (including blue sharks), free diving, photography, science communications, digital storytelling and networking with experts in the field. We also feel it is very important to showcase the diverse marine life in the UK and how the conservation of threatened species closer to home is often overlooked!
We continue to be inspired by the candidates that we get to meet during this programme and are proud of the community of conservationists that continue to support each other to this day.
